70% of this book being solely about the war in Europe is textbook Eurocentrism. Starting the section on China by chiefly talking about the British isn't a good look either.
Aw, they didn't even mention my favorite part about Japan's attack on Singapore - they stole a bunch of bicycles and rode through the forest which caught the British entirely by surprise.

Imagine being king as a kid, fleeing execution by the Soviets, and then coming back 50 years later as Prime Minister. That's an insane story. And also cool to be of the same House as the British Royals pre-Elizabeth's death (Saxe-Coburg-Gotha).
Hitler's late war decisions are so frustrating to read about. I can't help feeling bad for the commanders just trying to save their troops.

It doesn't matter how many accounts I've read on the Holocaust, it is always very harrowing and difficult to read.

Saying "1 in 2" for the casualty rate doesn't sound quite as bad as 1/2 or 50% does, which is weird since it means the same thing. The poor Canadians had the worst casualties on D-Day.
Maybe I should visit Normandy and see all the Canadian stuff and memorials.

This is written competently enough but doesn't seem particularly academic or complex. Almost like reading a university student's writing.
