No nuance given to the mass-suicide at Saipan is disappointing.
Oh, of course this book is pro-atomic bombs. Because why consider the Japanese civilians, it's only about American lives 🙄

70% of this book being solely about the war in Europe is textbook Eurocentrism. Starting the section on China by chiefly talking about the British isn't a good look either.
Aw, they didn't even mention my favorite part about Japan's attack on Singapore - they stole a bunch of bicycles and rode through the forest which caught the British entirely by surprise.
This book doesn't even talk much about Pearl Harbor??

Imagine being king as a kid, fleeing execution by the Soviets, and then coming back 50 years later as Prime Minister. That's an insane story. And also cool to be of the same House as the British Royals pre-Elizabeth's death (Saxe-Coburg-Gotha).
Hitler's late war decisions are so frustrating to read about. I can't help feeling bad for the commanders just trying to save their troops.

It doesn't matter how many accounts I've read on the Holocaust, it is always very harrowing and difficult to read.

Interesting to consider the huge loss of history and culture in Paris if Hitler had had his way.

This book has some shoddy editing at times. Could also benefit from more maps.
