Bluebeard & the White Buffalo: A Rangergirl Yarn by Tim Pratt - i'm wondering how classy it is to take a real Lakota Sioix sacred story (the white buffalo) and make it into a fun western about white people in which the only Native Americans are evil and die. also not superheroes

23. Wild Cards: Prologue & Interludes by George R R Martin - just as fascinating as i hoped it'd be! i love authors that can evoke a completely different voice within just a couple sentences

The Biggest by James Patrick Kelly - halfway through i had a feeling that this didn't have a happy ending, so i flipped to the last page and i was right. i really really don't like sad stories so i didn't finish this one. but it was beautifully well written - a good sad story, if you do like them

17. The Death Trap of Dr. Nefario by Benjamin Rosenbaum - good but, and i realize this is a pretty niche complaint, i've read this exact premise (superheros in therapy, specifically Robin) in AT LEAST two dozen tumblr posts so it didn't really blow my mind 😂

5. The Rememberer by J Robert Lennon - i really liked this! also not what i would call a superhero story but it had kind of a superhero-y feel

6. The Nuckelavee: A Hellboy Story by Christopher Golden & Mike Mignola - mildly interesting but extremely not a superhero story (even if Hellboy is usually a superhero?)

3. Trickster by Steven Barnes & Tananarive Due. not what i would call a superhero story but interesting!

I am enjoying this book. I set it aside for a few weeks while I was finishing some other ones. I am indebted to the editor for including the essay Philip Jose Farmers Tarzan Alive: A definitive Biography of Lord Greystoke. I can't believe I have never heard of the the Wold Newton comet mythography given that I consider myself a fan of not on Tarzan, Burroughs in general and Philip Jose Farmer.

(Actually finished, just not ready to do a detailed review yet.)
