I really enjoyed it. You don’t often see Persian inspired fantasy settings, so I was very very happy. It did take awhile to get going, but it was worth it. I’ll miss the characters, especially Soraya whose indecision I feel greatly. Shamhar was a great villain too, my god. I want to read more by this author. I appreciated her afterword explaining the inspirations, too! Now, what to read next.

Not sure what I feel yet. I love the Ancient Persian inspired setting. The Zoroastrian styled religion in the story is nice as well, as it’s a faith that rarely gets adapted into fictional settings. Well, unless you count Christianity and its copies I suppose. I’m just very curious where it is going. Obviously the divs are planning something. But not all of them. It’s keeping me invested.

Azad is a bit suspicious, but maybe he can help Soraya? Seems a bit too helpful so far but we’ll see what comes of it. Ramin is a cunt. Wish him the worst.

So Soraya definitely once loved Laleh, more than a friend at that. The set-up is being laid out. A captured demon, a way to break the curse, and somehow Azad has a part to play in all of this.
