I take back every negative thing I said about this book because things are finally happening.

More than halfway through and we’re no closer to solving this mystery than we were in Chapter 1.

I appreciate the implication that even though we’re reading the dialogue in English, the characters are most likely actually speaking in Portuguese. You don’t see that very often.

Why do we keep talking around the same points? When are we going to get something new?

I like Duilio’s mom. I hope she gets some more development because I want to see her happy.

Oriana has a right to be suspicious

I do wish we were a little more focused on Oriana’s POV than Duilio’s most of the time.

Cheney’s writing style is a little awkward, but I’m adjusting.

I’m obsessed with this book’s worldbuilding.

If I had a nickel for every book I read this year where it started with the main girl with water powers watching her best friend drown, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.
