Belief it or not, but with their lack of head scarfs and the few hints of christianity these gypsies here are probably the closest to reality that have seen from Marvel so far, yet still, they are portrayed as being somewhere out in the wilderness and dressing in nothing like beggar clothes and being overtly superstitious and in the case of Kurt's family, unable to help themselves.

Ok, since I could not find pictures online on how the "gypsies" were portrayed here, but they look kind of like this:

However, German Sinti in the 1980s and 90s looked like this:

Well, funny thing: That 1975 snipped from Kurt's first appearance not only has more realistic clothes, but it has him howling. And he still doesn't teleport away... for some reason.

That "the man Kurt Szardos died in the fire is dead" so he is called Kurt Wagner is totally stupid and unnecessary, not only is "Wagner" a name that a German Roma family could easily have, heck there is a guy who actually has that name:

So Professor X compelled Getmann to be nice to Kurt's family... is this supposed to explain that he basically abandoned them? Writers, if he is actually a "Roma" he probably would not do that here, or just a decent person in general would not just go and just accept anything the Prof said, especially since Kurt knows what the Prof can do.

So this time his name is Kurt Szardos... well it makes more sense than the 1997 version were we had no idea why he was called Kurt Wagner.

Oh my god, the houses.... Look there are houses preserved in the old style, but they do not look this shitty.

Great, more random Bible verses to sound cool, this was dumb when they wanted to show Kurt's "transformation" but here its even dumber.

Ok, it is realistic that the church has candles, albeit not for main illumination, but the banks look really simplistic and Kurt's bed seems to be made out of wood and straw. Seriously? That is completely impossible in the 1980s and 1990s.

Kurt apparently wanted to die, so why did his teleportation power kick in? Was it subconscious that he actually wanted to flee?

Ok, I am pretty sure that "Armen" is not a real name, unless the parents were cruel. I guess it was supposed to be "Armin."
As for Kurt's family (siblings are barely mentioned) being not worth the trouble of killing: they are "gypsies", if the circus owner is willing to parade Kurt in a cage and the authorities are fine with this, I doubt he would hesitate killing "gypsies."

So he not only has Kurt behind bars but also a bearded lady... writers, Marvel Universe or not, that would not fly in Germany, heck the Völkerschauen had more dignity than this. At least the people in there managed to score with the locals from time to time.

Ok, I know barely any romanes (the sinti version) apart from a few words, but I am pretty sure that the latin word "mater" is not their word for mother.
And boy they look even worse than in the 1997 version, because here they look like beggars. And their trailers look so old they could be from prior to WWII.
The only realistic thing is that they are apparently christian.

Torches... not flashlights, but still torches...
At least this time Mystique did not throw him down a waterfall but apparently bond him to a log because she was too weak.

So Kurt lives in a cage with straw in it... ever heard of the authorities? Not to mention, if this happens in the 1980s and 1990s this makes alot of differences to how things would look, because e.g. the poster looks nothing like Circus posters. But more on that later, I am sure there will come more.

"Gott wird dich richten"... Yep, the out of place German line is back. You know what would be less silly than that? Actually doing your job and make this look like Germany, the 1997 and this version is so culturally empty that it could be anywhere in Europe or North America.

So the name "Getmann" actually does exist in the German language, but I do wonder where they got that one and "Gecht" since they seem to be uncommon. And so is the name "Rolfe" which apparently is an unusual English name and not German. And why did they keep the made up name Szardos?

Well I did read the plothole ridden stereotype fest that was the 1997 origin story, so lets see what the 2010 version did.
