"In deploying the emotional, evangelicals seek to bring about societal change through individual acceptance and conversion, as they consistently have. However, their modern reliance on sentimentality actually promotes a narcissism encouraging a belief that the individual is the center of the world and is the focus of God's attention."

I love reading scholars analyze CCM. The author brings up Kutless' lyrics that talk about Jesus offering himself for sin even if it had only saved one person as evidence of sentimentality but this claim goes all the way back to St. Augustine of I'm not mistaken.
