Delightful artwork by the author. He highlights certain memories in his writing, not every detail in sequential order, which I like. Makes for easy quick reading, but also, points out specific moments in his memoir that seem to have deeper meaning to the author than just surface level. This book should be included with other WW2 memoir/history books.

Loved the artwork. The story was sad, but not a compelling read. One thing the book teaches is that a single phase spoken in anger or haste can leave a devastating memory for a lifetime.

Lovely and sometimes dark memories of a boy growing up during World War 2 matched to paintings by the author that depict those haunted memories. Like eating a delicate meal in a open air seaside restaurant ....enjoying this book very much.
