What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice rough. “What’s wrong, baby?” “Nothing,” she said, smiling up at him in a way he knew was real. “I’m just happy. I love you so much. You give me so much, Nathan. You know that, don’t you?” He hoped so. He hoped so. But it was really good to hear. He leaned down to kiss her softly.

It’s not you, Nathan. It’s not about you. I hope you know how much I care about you, and I love being with you. But I’m not a little girl anymore. I know the kinds of consequences a relationship has on your life, and dating you seriously is not like dating just anyone seriously. It would come with a lot of baggage.

She was absently rubbing his neck, massaging his shoulders, stroking his hair. And it felt so good—like he was being taken care of. No one had taken care of him since he'd grown up. He closed his eyes again. No one was here but Lynn, and she didn’t seem to mind.

Nathan leaned into a soft kiss, his lips brushing hers gently. When a rush of feeling washed over her, Lynn wrapped her arms around him. He was warm and solid and hard against her, and he felt real, human—strong and vulnerable both. She melted into the embrace.

Just because we’re f-ing doesn’t mean you and your clients are off-limits.” She sat up as she spoke, evidently prompted by her resentment. In his growing exasperation, Nathan didn’t appreciate the way she used the word “f-ing,” even though it was what they’d always used to describe their relationship. It trivialized them in a way he didn’t like,

He looked lost, helpless. The intense, aching swell of feeling she experienced—sympathy, understanding, tenderness, a need to comfort—was rather worrying. She shouldn’t be feeling anything of the kind for him, and definitely not this much. Nathan might just be an occasional lover to her, but he was hurting.

So what are you thinking?” “Maybe once a month? “And we’d keep the same arrangement? The 24th at 8:00, no contact in between nights, no expectations about…anything?” “Same arrangement. If we decide we don’t want to continue, either one of us can still just not show up.” It would be so nice to only have to wait a month for her next night with him.

Lynn had been an intern in Nathan’s office the year after she graduated from college. Ten years ago now, when he’d had his short-lived career in Congress. She had to agree with the woman’s assessment. He might not be sex on a bun, but he was definitely sex in a $3,000 suit. She had good reason to know. For the last 2 years, Lynn had been spending one hot night with him every 3 months.

I really enjoyed this book which was a quick read. I thought it ended quickly because I was anticipating their trip to Scotland and a possible wedding on the horizon . I was also curious as to what the x-wife would be told.

A great, short read by Noelle Adams with a heartfelt contemporary romance as the backdrop. Unexpected family ties and new found love are at the center of this story. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a sweet quickie read.
