It’s the home to the students who are mostly Dark Wizards…the evil and cunning ones. Voldemort as well as many of his Death Eaters are from this house.

Oh, please.

Hero and heroines reasoning: this delusional, unstable addict (Sebastian) has a gun, and he has already threatened me (heroine) and we don't know what he might do, but let's not tell the police because perhaps our names would end up in the papers and that would be irritating.

Did I mention these two are complete idiots that probably deserve each other?

“No. I said I wouldn’t say anything. He’s delusional and who knows what he’s capable of doing. Shit, he’s breaking into stores and houses. He’s stealing. Please. We can’t call the police. I don’t want anything to happen to either of you.”

Okay, the smartest thing to do? Call the police! TSTL heroine, again.

You can’t imagine how boring it gets when girls will do or say whatever they think you want to hear. You’re not like that…you’re sweet and caring. And what makes you even more alluring is that you’re so innocent, but at the same time so incredibly strong.

WHY AM I STILL READING NEW ADULT WHEN IT KEEPS MASS PRODUCING SEXIST HEROES?

She’s someone who sets her sights on something or someone…and she will do whatever it takes to get it. Pure and simple…she’s evil. She only cares about herself. She has no morals. She doesn’t give a damn that you and Logan are together.



Imagine how different the conversation had been had "she" been a "he".

Ah, the old "women can immediately spot another woman who recently lost her virginity" trope.

"And, when it comes to you…you were like this perfect angel that came into my life…beautiful, smart, sweet, funny…I just didn’t think you’d want to be with someone with so many demons.”


This is the problem with NA heroes_ They are not people, they are fantasies. A fantasy saying the right thing even when it doesn't match their supposed personality.

Suddenly the narration changed. Now the heroine is basically talking/explaining herself to the reader. Poor, poor writing.

It all seems so silly and pointless, but then Bryn’s words echo in my head: the school revolves around Logan and his sexcapades.



This is not how college works.

So far this book suffers from the same as the first book: uneven pacing and poor structure, lack of character depth, lack of a solid plot. Still not addressing the big cliffhanger either.

She stands in the middle of two, equally trampy-attired girls. They are all skintight jeans, similar tight, low-cut tops that leave nothing to the imagination.

Ah, New adult female representation. Love it.

This gets worse and worse. Apparently, Emilia's mere presence is enough to higher the sales where she works. Just by her presence. Because she's perfect.

This shit is not happening.

“Do I need to remind you of something? He sort of attacked me that night on the dance floor.”
“Just a minor screw-up. You can look past that, right?”

Great friend.

So I guess we're starting the book with what can be sexual harassment? From the hero. Ending the last book with the fact that the heroine had been raped in her childhood?

I see the sensitivity issue is ignored completely.

Because I'm obviously a book masochist, and recently decided to give series more than the first book to hook me - given how I've missed out on terrific series in the past for giving up after the first book - I'll give the second book a chance.

Just gotta go get myself some alcohol first.
