In the story, Taryn managed to defeat Draeken unlike his predecessor Lanokus. The fiend army was eliminated after Draekens death, allowing the gathered races to survive. The major conflict in this story was the war between the bulk of the fiend army and the gathered races. Although the races had no chance of surviving, they managed to live long enough for Taryn to defeat Draeken.
