Status Updates From By Right of Arms

I’m enjoying this medieval HR. For an HR novel from the ’80s, it’s refreshing to read a heroine who isn’t the usual shrewish, ill-tempered, or stupid heroine. She’s strong-willed yet level-headed, and isn’t ruled by her emotions. The hero, too, isn’t needlessly cruel or abusive just for the sake of it, as was common in ’70s and ’80s HR. Best of all, the characterization is remarkably consistent.

It really ticks me off when the hero keeps refusing to trust or believe the heroine! And I don’t care that his stepmother did him dirty in the past and now he believes all women are lying hoes, blah blah blah. I just hate this character dynamic.

Is it wrong that I am totally invested in the story because of the bad guys? Author does a great job of love-to-hate villains.
