Overuse of perceived southern slang, idioms and parts of speech. I think it takes away from the story and makes it laborious to read but maybe I'm just not far enough into it yet. As a Texan for the last 36 years, I can honestly say I've not heard ANYONE that is a native Texan, and I have 8 native Texan sons, speak in such a manner as this stereotypical pair of drifters/cowboys.
