Gonna finish this tonight. Then read something more uplifting, in honor of Sodomy Month.

These metaphors of his -- I'm pretty sure by 1963 he was getting his hands on drugs. If I ever heard anyone talk like this in person I'm pretty sure I'd murder him. And devil take the hindmost.

I feel sorry for any poor suckers in the future who read these books of his. But don't say I didn't Tell You So.

Five pages to describe a kiss, using metaphors that make your anus pucker up. JDM really is no good. He lucked out a couple of times, but he's no better than those women who write airport, drug-store, romance books. He's no better than even Stephen King. I'd like to grab him and kick his ass, then shoot him.

I don't know how many JDMs I've read now, but they all fit in a category: "Love 'n' Chicanery," with varying proportions of each. The Chicanery is always good, but usually it's obscured by 75% Love. I will never know, but i wonder if those Harlequin Romances are all just 100% Love, and that's the only difference.

I had planned to try his Trevor McGhee books, but I suspect they're the same kind of Crime and Love Bait and Switch. What can I say? "Ladies, You'll LOVE John D. MacDonald."

Just a matter of time before the Whole New Kind of Love Never Before Experienced part starts up. I wonder if those Travis Bickle books of his are the same: Love, wrapped in a Plot, inside a Novel, as Churchill would say.

I wonder when the Whole New Kind of Love kicks in. The kind of Love that needs 100 pages of metaphor and Witty Banter to try to describe. It's coming. 100% for sure, it's coming. Why don't they put these books in the Women's Section ... with cookbooks and astrology and such stuff?

First lines | “ONE DAY after it was all over, after it was ended and done and there was no going back to change any part of it, Paul Stanial realized, checking the dates, that he and the Hanson woman had gone swimming on the same day, at the same hour, over a hundred miles apart, and he walked from the same noontime simmer of May in Florida, across sand into coolness.”
