A book set in Toronto in a past before my past but with recognizable aspects. Poetic writing. Evocative descriptions. Interesting choice to have first person narrative. It makes the action come alive. The mystery and speed are making me more and more want to keep reading instead of getting down to my own writing. Finally a detective who isn’t a bundle of tropes.

Written by a debut author who has potential. The pace was a little too slow and at times the story was repetitive.

Good noir mystery read. The characters remain in my memory.
