Reading this alongside Janos Kornai's 'The Socialist System'. Whilst Allen is certainly not a radical, he does provide a great counterweight to some of the overly negative texts on the Soviet economy. He is also much more numerically focused than Kornai, which is interesting, as Kornai seems to be more focused on incentive structures and ideology. Whereas, Allen is less concerned with ideology and moreso with results
