Kicks off with Anton Mesmer (Mesmer -> mesmerize) suggesting that exorcism is actually a state of 'animal magnetism', crazy idea but his main contributions is in shifting attention onto the rapport between patient and healer, disregarding the ritualistic elements of exorcism and possession. Spiritism and 'magnetic sleep' from Puysegur also covered (hypnosis)

Will do an update for each of the 9 chapters for this tome, just as a way to remember + encourage paying attention.

Covers pre-englightenment psychotherapeutic methods and their modern correlates, all the way from the early paleolithic period where neuroses were considered the 'intrusion of a disease object' to more recent therapeutic ideas like exorcism or healing through confession

Finally continuing this now that I have created an audio version, as well as have again an appetite for things more directly psychological than philosophy and literature. Didn't discontinue this for two years due to lack of quality but did so mostly for the massive(physical) size of this tome.
