Over halfway through the book and we have been hundreds of years away from 1177 for the most of it, most recently making digressions into the Trojan War and Exodus.

I'm having trouble finding the point of this scattered and jumbled history. Ancient Egypt had a Dark Ages? So?
We've already backed up 600 years from 1177, and there's plenty of civilization spread all over Europe, Asia, & Africa. Even if Egypt is having a bad stretch, it seems there are plenty of other options for human civilization to thrive even if Egypt failed to rebound.
Guess you need to read the book first?

Its a great book for history lovers, trying to anwser the big question: Whatever Happened to the Late Bronze Age and civilization collapsed. Through historic evidence, Eric H. Cline gives a detailed explanation about customs, leadership and relations(political and financial) between these civilizations. The illustrations of Glynnis Fawkes are very helpful and it makes the book even more easy to understand.
