I am going to love this one - just from the preface! The first essay Dragonfly,Secondhand is marvelous. I saved a small tree frog from my entryway floor recently with a funnel and a flattened cardboard box for quart-sized bags and can relate to the actions and the aftermath.

I have hated Annie Dillard and Pilgrim at Tinker Creek for years. This book made me hate them more: “‘I explore the neighborhood,’ Dillard tells us near the start, yet nowhere…does she tell us it was a suburb. Tinker Creek was in view of houses, people, driveways, cars.” WHAT? Dillard, you pretentious ass.
