Story 9: The Shadow over Innermouth -
Genuinely terrifying, the perfect slow build of tension and uncertainty. That is the followed by genuinely fear and terror as our main character starts to see why he should never of came to Innermouth. My only negative, was when reading the drunk man’s part, it took me out the story as I sometimes wasn’t sure what he said. 4.75/5

Story 8 - The Dreams in the witch house: DNF felt extremely convoluted in its description and wasn’t interested in it at all. 0/5

The Whisperer in darkness - another incredible story. The slow build of paranoia, the ambiguity of the ending and extremely, beautifully written description of terror. 4.25/5

Story 6: The Dunwich Horror- another solid entry. The mystery and folklore that slowly comes to a somewhat hopeful climax. The mention and running theme of the Necronomicon is great stuff. 3.75/5

Story 5: The Call of Cthulhu - finally read the big Lovecraft story. It doesn’t disappoint. The air of mystery, the slowly ramping of anxiety, insanity and despair. Masterclass. Lives up to the hype - 5/5

Story 4: The Festival - a straightforward tale of horror, paranoia and uncertainty. The description and writing is very in depth. 3.5/5

Story 3: The nameless city - less interesting than the first two. I did have moments of claustrophobia when our protagonist is crawling in the tombs which proves why Lovecraft is a masterclass but that’s all I took from it. 2.5/5

Story 2: The picture in the house - a short story but tense. The way the old man spoke makes you uncomfortable and builds a sense of anxiety. The abrupt ending was chilling. 4/5.

Story one: Rats in the walls - a great introduction story, the work of paranoia and slow burn horror that has a haunting pay off as the story ends. 3.75/5
