“Mickey and Roman are one and the same, but Mickey is just for her. It’s the name that has my heart ratcheting because it means I’m her home. She feels safe with me and never wants to lose me, just like her Mickey Mouse. I could die happy knowing she calls me that.”

The dynamic between us has shifted. It’s no longer the princess and her knight. It’s something far simpler: the prisoner and her captor.
“Where are you taking me?” I ask.
“Home.” He doesn’t hesitate with his answer.
“You just took me from it.”
“That was a house, but it wasn’t your home.” Roman adjusts himself in his seat and checks the rearview mirror. “Our home is wherever we make it.”

I love the complexity of these characters! It's dark romance but there's so much depth so far
