Status Updates From A Time for Shariton Park

rereadability of this book is fairly high
depending maybe or not on the sequel

which i’m honestly hoping i can skim read as i have little desire to read their stories

i do think
this book could’ve been amazing if it had the chance to be longer and convey so much more of the characters and their relationships

suddenly they were saying i love you

and just
it was forgettable

i supposed for the moment and to compare

despite my bleeding and cramping
as well as general shitty mood and feelings
this book did not leave me feeling worse off
as most unfortunately do
so thats already high praise from me
and i can’t help but think this will reflect the experience more fondly for me

as well
i have hopes this is a new author i can stan

so i thought i could pause and read other stuff before getting to the sequel to this book
which the blurb for doesnt sound too intriguing
ruth has cancer
what’s her face fmc has infertility issues
a new random side character slash fmc pregnant goes back in time and gets with the butler or whatever?

yikes
yawn

but who knows

i am more interested in the other time travel books by this author…

nothing really stands out
and likely wont be memorable at all tbh

but for now it was just very …okay

i liked the fmc at times
she wasn’t stupid
most of the time
she was sensible and clever and thoughtful

but overall this story lacked depth and meaning for me

i don’t have much to praise or rant about

i’ll be honest

i thought this would be shit

but i’m happy to note that it wasn’t terrible

i don’t love it
but i don’t hate it

although
even with how stupidly short it is
and how lacking with some things

i finished this in a day and already i don’t recall all i read

so that’ll attribute to the ‘high’ rating i’ll be giving it

three stars

two hundred fifty pages is nothing though

Which, actually is not great since this is a romance story and who knows how old this dude is supposed to be.

YOU ARE PRETENDING TO BE A NOBLE LADY IN EARLY 1800'S ENGLAND.

This amnesia thing is so stupid. I mean, I dislike amnesia subplots when characters actually have "amnesia" (or the stupid fictional version of it). But a story where the MC is trying to lie about having amnesia...but isn't even putting in the effort to half-ass it, is just tedious. I don't blame the dude for not believing her. A fifth grader would call bullshit on this.

Oh my gods, woman. You removed a sketch from a sketch book. You didn't tear it to pieces and set it on fire. It is still perfectly fine.

A) She knows she is in the past
B) She has some awareness that class structures are very important here
C) Going up to someone in the hospitality sector in modern times and going "God, I'd hate to have your job! It's so demeaning!" would still be an asshole thing to do.

So why the fuck would she go around talking to a 19th century maid like they are gal pals out a brunch and bitch session?
