Status Updates From Kalpa imperial

Assigned book club book. Beautiful text. Probably one of the best first sentences I’ve read in a book in a long time…. Unfortunately, there’s no real story nor continuity. No character building nor anything to latch onto. Just a bunch of disjointed short stories with very little dialogue or exciting plots. Probably first book of book club I won’t finish. Even jumping to the second part to see if it improves
