then I wholeheartedly embrace this magnificent calling for all eternity.  “You’re not going anywhere, Nerissa,”

“Your Papa can’t live without his baby girl. I won’t survive without you.” His tentacles surround me and ravish whatever flesh remains untouched.   “I won’t go anywhere. You were right. I need my papa,”

“But tell me, does my baby girl really want to go? Does she truly believe she can live without her Papa forever?” His tender and teasing words challenge me to reconsider, hinting at our unspoken bond.

I have never been more grateful to the divine forces that sculpted our destinies.

If I were a betting man, I would wager she is the daughter of Marine, a water nymph and former subject who departed the Otherworld after falling in love with a human.

The hallway is empty, yet the familiarity of the voice haunts me, nudging against my memory.

From my earliest memories, I was captivated by my mother’s bedtime stories that recounted tales of our ancestors, whispering our profound connection to roaring rivers, serene lakes, and of course, the majestic sea. She claims it’s an intrinsic and undeniable part of our lineage, and that one day I’ll feel that same familiar calling to make a home by the water.

Found that calling a dude "papa" is even worse than "daddy". Yuck!

Her concern is appreciated, but she’s inadvertently fed into one of my greatest fears.
