Status Updates From The Barn: The Secret Histor...

The narrative follows Willie Reed to his new life in Chicago and continues to trace the Civil Rights Movement through the murder of Till and the history of the land.

Wright Thompson travels back to the Delta to tell Emmit Till's story through the story of the barn.

This history is truly intense and horrifying. Thompson’s style of short intense sentences really hits at this point in the book, describing the murder and trial acquittal in such detail. The weaving throughout time and space is so expertly done. You feel a palpable rage and frustration with the history here.
