Holiday season in Chicago is starting.

Reading this for the second time and not sure why. Love the Chicago references as I used to live there. But the transitions are boring and repetitive and take away for the read.
I get the author wants to have this sense of simultaneous activities but it's not working with the redundant elementary approach.
