Such a satisfying turn! Can't wait to see where this goes.

Ooh! Is this the titular dragon?

How is it these white-clad cultivator types so often come out autistic coded? Zhong Michu's got the unusually flat affect, connects more easily with animals than people, and "sometimes took a while to answer questions. Gu Fuyou often couldn’t tell if she didn’t want to speak or if she was considering how to respond". It's curious, but I certainly don't mind!

I'm really enjoying that Gu Fuyou, though less powerful overall, is such a formation-magic nerd! She's really clever about figuring out how to use that specialized knowledge to her advantage. Surely it is gaining Zhong Michu's admiration as well!

"As Zhong Michu approached, Gu Fuyou lifted her head and saw Zhong Michu’s hand extended towards her. The hand was as delicate and creamy as sheep’s milk cheese. Given that Zhong Michu possessed a water spirit root, her entire being radiated a refreshing, moist aura...In a moment of sheer impulse and overpowering hunger, Gu Fuyou bit into Zhong Michu’s hand."
This desert journey just got weird, LOL.

OK, the premise of the mischievous screw-up cultivator binding her senior sect sister in place of a spirit animal companion is already funny. But A) Zhong Michu being so chill about it (even when her tea-drinking is interrupted) and B) being so highly feared and/or respected by actual spirit animals is kinda intriguing.

when you're in your 20s and people legit CENTURIES older than you start beefing with you like??? please find someone your own age to fight

I’m on chapter 36 currently and the characters seem really interesting (I’m intrigued by Gu Fuyou’s complicated relationship with her family the most) but unfortunately it’s a very slow beginning so far and the romance seems a bit flat (???) if that makes sense. I’m still in the beginning chapters though so I’m sure my opinion will change!
