Finished “Titus Groan”. That was a LOT. 150 pages in I still wasn’t sure I’d like it but I pushed on and I’m glad I did! Although this book doesn’t have a lot of action, I ended up enjoying the strange characters and situations that occur in the castle, Gormenghast. Peake’s writing is so vivid that it was like reading a painting or illustration. 4 stars for book one

I’ve finished the first book, ‘Titus Groan’. Unfortunately I do think this book was boring and the vivid language was not able to make up for the lack of action and discernible plot. I wish there were more fantastical elements to the setting, it would be more interesting and fun than what is basically a big castle with weird people in it. I’ll finish the next two books but I probably won’t enjoy them much.
