The ridiculousness of a smoke jumper deliberately setting a fire in order to get the bad guy, when he could have forced a confrontation any other way, has me wondering if I would even finish this book if it were much longer than it is.

Pushed past the annoying "you're not the boss of me" line and attitude of the female lead character. The book has a lot of potential and an interesting storyline, but I'm not overly optimistic about the prospects for character development.
