ugh, it only gets worse, yet another DNF, I'm sad

I don't know what to think of this book anymore.
So far no horror, just a very sexist society and characters (basically real life but more tech), an awful marriage, lover, drugs, a protagonist I'm starting not to like much...is this Merlose Place?

I’m officially lost, but I think that’s the authors intention, very much like Tamsin Muir’s Locked Tomb series; it wants you to be as confused as the characters are.
