Con: I’m not totally sold that I loved this. It’s def between 3-4 for me. 3.5

more wins: parentals. We got it all. Both mc’s are navigating marriage against the backdrop of the parents that raised them. Also was deeply affected by Raees;s confession about how his father’s behavior impacted him.

you know I almost forgot I started this book because I was in the mood for a my wife type of book.

Pros:

I loved the co worker is the cheating ex fiance. She’s forcing Raees to act like they’re okay when he would prefer a lot more distance . The way we see her behavior is so well done. The second fav would be friend reunion. It was really heartfelt. all emo dialed just right.

Having this complication in the mix makes some of the strong commitments and evocations a little ideal.

Just because I would be skeptical of how clean cut this dynamic doesn’t change the story being told.

Within that story is lot of adoring affection. They commit to each other. It’s full steam ahead.

By trauma I mean abuse. Zinnerah’s ex physical and emotional abuse.

On one hand a part of me was trying decide if I thought Raees swooped on the tail end of a bad situation. I know he waited. His character is 100% not that guy. But is the foundation of their relationship based on her misfortune and his rescue.

No matter how great he is, this situation is that unequal context I referred to.

I liked that it was a hefty book. I’ve gotten back into reading slow build romances. But I haven’t totally branched out beyond the one author. I think for me the whole mindset of how committed they are to each other is bit accelerated. I say this having loved other books for this very thing. But the thing about these two is they’re starting off amid trauma.
