i am corvus rn looking on with heart eyes at the kids actually being KIDS and drawing together while the adults play cards (shoutout to enjin’s abysmal poker face what a loser). it’s so refreshing to see a shonen highlight and celebrate the youth of its characters rather than violate or exploit it constantly like it’s just a necessary evil of the genre

my heart is so full i think it might burst oh my god rudo you are so GOOD. his emotional immaturity is really on display here when he says that he can’t relate to what remlin is feeling bc he can’t draw, but i think it’s that exact earnestness that charms remlin out of their slump. rudo wants to understand them, and the only entry point to that empathy in his eyes is art. of COURSE they light up immediately

reluctant mentor figure zanka 💕💕💕💕
zanka is the perfect teacher for rudo and he’s SO endeared by him even if he won’t admit it to himself. maybe he sees a bit of himself in rudo, an angry kid obsessed with one goal and nothing else, and he wants to steer him in a better, stronger direction like enjin did for him

the whiplash of getting cuteness aggression from zanka’s gremlin side coming out to then being hit with the obscene image of enjin in his slutty slouched shirt fuck OFF

WAIT noerde does still have her jinki???? will it still work??? what exactly happened to her??? did she cross the border but get spit back down? can the watchman THINK?? did it decide not to kill her?? or did she not make it far enough? also i guess i misunderstood the number of objects there are in watchman series, but the rule of 3 still remains important bc of the watchman symbol itself

but how does it all connect? we know that he killed people on the sphere and somehow gave rudo the unnatural scarring on his hands. was he trying to sacrifice people to the watchman in order to create more powerful jinki? did he try to do the same with rudo but it failed? what did he do once he got down to the ground? why is he famous to them? (along with those 2 other people i can't remember) MUCH TO PONDER

i am SO intrigued by the lore that's starting to unfold in this series, and so much of the mystery from the very beginning has centered around rudo's father, who we now know (i'm taking some liberties here, this won't be revealed in the manga until v.11) was named canis surebrec aka the undertaker. surebrec is cerberus backwards. 3 headed dog, 3 pieces of the watchman series, the symbol on The Watchman has 3 points

i sincerely hope that noerde gets to kill zodyl one day

when i first watched this part in the anime i was a little disappointed that noerde didn't die bc sometimes it does get kind of annoying when mangaka refuse to kill characters in shonen, even in these MASSIVE moments. but now that i've sat on it and seen it again, selfishly i'm glad she's alive bc i adore her, but also i think it's more interesting to keep her around. very curious to see her story continue

THIS was the part that had my jaw on the floor when i saw it in the anime and wow is it just as effective in the manga. what the FUCK is the watchman, how does it function, WHY does it function, is it like a god? does it want? does it consume? does it erase? does it feed? is it collecting? i already know that noerde doesn't die here but her jinki is gone right? did the watchman take it? did it look into her memories?

for the way fu is drawn in this one scene alone, gachiakuta should win every character design award in the industry. he's so GOOPY, even his pupils and irises are blobs inside his eyeballs that reflect the mess of tears and snot that he is rn. i am SO interested to learn more about his jinki and how exactly it works bc it seems to function almost like an alter??? but what does it DO and what even IS it anyway???

another highly HIGHLY anticipated april release!!! i pretty much know where this volume is gonna go bc the anime actually covered the content of this volume and some of volume 11, but i am so stoked to see how some of the moments that have stuck with me from those episodes were originally drawn!!! also it made me ridiculously happy to see that the color of this cover matches the tokyo aliens 10 cover almost perfectly
