I’m not looking forward to book two as much now that I’ve realized this author is the same as the illiri series. Period.

It’s so fucking annoying though, why bother to change your goddman pen name on Goodreads.

Just pick one.

Fuck this shit.

I’ll prob forget all about this read by the time book two comes out. But whatever.

I should be deep into a better series by then.

Oh, also makes more sense though..

All the fucking bullshit themes in this book were just as bad as the ones in the illiri series.

Racism everywhere.

Shitty group of ppl hurting another group all bc they’re diff in skin and hair and shape and size and species.

Ugh.

It’s just worse in this series bc of all the glaring in your face mentions of “women are weak and serve men” bullshit.

Ughhh.

And didn’t see that stupid series in THIS authors’ books.

Bc there were a few chapters of book one for it at the end of THIS book.

Welp…no wonder this book was so godsdamned tedious to read most of the time.

I still won’t ever give the illiri books another chance though.

Just finished the prologue for book two.
In Tobias’ pov. Which was new too. And right after Calla ended book one with hers. A first for them both.

Which makes me assume they’ll both be very active and important in book two.

One important info I JUST learned though…
When I first found this book, I was worried and then relieved it wasn’t the same author as the illiri series.

I’m wrong again.

My arms ache from mopping yesterday
And then holding my phone to read all day..

I feel empty and bereft now.

I need to dive into a new story.

I’d really thought I was jumping into this first book of many.. but now I can’t.

Oh, and the end of this book has a prologue for book two, WHICH I WAS GOING TO SKIP BC I THOUGHT I WOULDNT NEED TO BC I WAS PLANNING TO READ BOOK TWO RIGHT AWAY. Aghhhhhhhhhhhh

But..

It did make me realize just now, how much I was looking forward to continue reading..

Also makes sense… all the talk, and there was a lot, about same sex couples, asexuals, etc.

I guess the annoyingly copious amounts of the mole ppl bullshit shenanigans just overwhelmed me.

It was all very medieval.

*sigh*

What now..

I’d thought this series was long and done.
Aghhhhughh. I’d thought this was complete and I could just get right into the next book immediately…

BUT I CANT . And now I’m .. idk, disappointed.

I am literally internally screaming rn bc I’d totally FORGOTTEN this book was published THIS YEAR. Like barely a couple of months ago.

I know I noticed that a while back, way before I started reading.

But I forgot.

And I’m so used to epic stories being…not new.

I’m rating this three stars.

No more no less.

It could’ve been better and it could’ve been worse.

I very likely won’t be rereading this ever again though.

Thinking about the horrors makes me sick.

Which explains why the majority of this reading experience had me speed reading basically.

Now I need to check the rest of this series…
Idk if I’ll want to be spoiled with blurbs or reviews…

I just want a hea for the fmc and the dragons.
