Finally made it through chapter 6 !!! Skipper over chapter 7 cause I’m not having children and just started chapter 8, a subject that is much more interesting to me. I must say I notice lots of redundancy in this book, I skip over most of the scripts cause they’re somewhat all the same. Even certain explanations just come back again and again 😪

It’s becoming increasingly clear to me from chapter 6 the type of person the author is. “although you’ll still find that holding your own boundary may not be in the best interest of your family” The fact that she herself is a mother and married woman who’s had to settle and comprise for others is very palpable in this chapter. Whole chapter on how to raise your husband to actually see you as an equal 🙄

“”My limit is not to go more than 5 days without sexual intimacy” isn’t often viable, because holding that depends on someone else (…) “I won’t consent to sexual intimacy under pressure”” wtffffff ?!! Implying that “consent under pressure” even exists?? It’s coercion or marital rape tf. Chapter 6 reeks of misogyny and I’m truly struggling to make it through that chapter.

3 negative points so far : 1. The chapters are long af, 45 pages per chapter makes this feel endless. 2. There’s a million too many scripts and lists, pages like 172 could have been reduced to a singular sentence! 3. Chapter 6 is hard to get through. She lost me at “pattern of behaviour in which your partner continually fails to respect your needs (…) a therapist could help”. LEAVE is what it should have said
