Yikes. Serious head hopping here. It's nicely done, but still a pet peeve of mine. Like, could you do a bit of work and fix this?

Lauren also never uses contractions. I mean, who talks like that? No real person I've ever met.

I also could have forgiven the occasional missing apostrophe, but I don't think there was a single instance when it was used for Max. It was always something like "Max hand was shaking" (no direct quote) instead of Max' or Max's. Use your apostrophes!

So many repetitions of sentences or phrases... 🙄
Lauren's pretentiousness is so annoying. The way she speaks French half the time just seems so incredibly fake.

I've thought this before, but now it really seems like the author doesn't know what "vegan" means...
A vegan dessert "made without refined sugar, flour, or any kind of dairy!"

Did you seriously just compare finding out your son is gay and sort of admitting to yourself you're gay to getting hit by a tsunami? Where countless people died and others lost everything? Where was the editor in all this? Someone to say that maybe that's not the best comparison to make? It's kind of disrespectful.

Yup, I really hate Max. I don't care that he has massive daddy issues and his stance on homosexuality stems from his own fears and the near constant perceived threat of exposure. It's disgusting the way he is so ashamed and basically trying to make others feel ashamed about their sexuality, too. He doesn't see that his deceit is actually much worse for everyone involved. It's all very tiring.

Kids and teens are hard to write... Sorry, but Logan feels like a caricature instand of a real person. His behavior is not what I would call "typical 14-year-old"

Oh, and I forgot. Gay stereotyping. It's a thing in this book. A lot of it coming from Max. Probably another reason for my dislike...

And I feel like the author is using this book to impose bis own views on readers. First with working out, meditation und veganism, and now that 14-year-olds can't be sexually active, because, OMG, STD's! But, you know, how about education over abstinence?
I could very well be wrong about this stuff being the author's views, but that's kinda what it feels like...

I'm really starting to dislike Max. I already wasn't too thrilled when it was revealed what a preachy health-nut he is, but now bis weird, angsty inner conflicts make me want to punch him. Repeatedly. In the face.

The sudden shared POV is really not working for me. It feels kind of lazy. Like bad writing. What's happening right now has me wanting to stop reading, and that's never a good sign.

"Parie?" Was this just to make it clear that she was pronouncing it the French way? Because it's still spelled "Paris" in French...

So, Sloane appears to have just dumped his friends. He's working out with Max, there is is no mention of the unmissable get together, nobody visited to check he was okay after the Asher incident.
And what happened to Max's wife. All contact with her seems c to have disappeared. What about us SKYPE call she threatened to discuss their son?

Loads of internal musings in this one. (Far too many in fact.) And what's with all the brackets for asides within thoughts or remembrances. (See what I did there.)

Sweet, charming and romantic. I would have loved an epilogue.

What a refreshing change. Lauren actually turned out to be a lovely person.
