“The estimated heredity of anxiety disorders is only about 30 percent, leaving plenty of room for other factors to help explain the link…Some of the most impactful parent factors are threat sensitivity, beliefs around anxiety, and two key emotion regulation factors: distress intolerance and experiential avoidance.”

“The degree of parental involvement…either too little or too much parental involvement is associated with problematic consequences for kids. This is absolutely consistent with what we see in child anxiety research: Too much or too little parental involvement places kids at higher risk for child anxiety. And parental over involvement is closely linked to a number of factors that make child anxiety worse.”

I haven’t seen the avoidance and anxiety cycle so explicitly presented and it is so helpful as a parent and person who feels anxious occasionally to know! I love her support statements & actual tools she’s giving parents to help their kids avoid chronic anxiety. There are parts I’m more familiar with that I’m skimming, but it’s helped me hone my parenting in even more for when my kids are feeling anxious!

I'm excited about this one. The concepts are expressed clearly and succinctly. No fluff.
