Guy tells girl he just met that he's heard all about her and thinks she might be his soulmate, then writes letters so she can get to know him without feeling weirded out...farfetched for real life but boy does it work in fiction!
(Incidentally, I'd say this is also a big clue that the author isn't too invested in the romance, more like, "Let's get this out of the way so we can get back to focusing on real issues."

Gosh it's lovely to have an engrossing novel to distract one from a miserable illness. This book is incredibe. What a tragedy that Ms Taylor spent her entire life perfecting it, publshing at age 73, and never wrote another. And think, neary all her letters to and from Charlotte Bronte were destroyed! It breaks my heart. I bet they COMPLAINED in those letters. Such an appalling secret could not be expsed.
