A good reminder: “Studies show that we all consistently overestimate how much people think about us and our failings… Next time you feel self-conscious, notice that you are thinking about yourself. You can safely assume that everyone around you is doing more or less the same.” (pg. 85)

I liked the distinction between optimism and hope (62–63). I did not like the think-of-dying-to-make-you-grateful (w/o any thoughtfulness about suicide triggers) nor the empathy bash (you could’ve at least acknowledged its strengths).
