Sweet book I read that my daughter loved and recommended I read.

I loved the transition to part 2!

It is whimsical. But I love the first person narrative, makes the book feel more real.

I think that Daniel is different now than he was at the beginning of the book. He experienced a lot of stuff like his grandfather's death meeting a mermaid.

What I think of Daniel now is that he has gotten over his grandfathers death and he's hoping to marry Franny to sort of replacing his grandfather. Also I think that when he said he has given up to see the world and hope to become a islander forever I think that he sort of thinks to himself "I don't need to see the world I just need to marry Franny"

I think that thy that the mermaid got him it can help winged creature. When Daniel talk to them it calms them, and when Danel touch them t can convince it to trust him. I think that the mermaid knew the hurricane is coming and it wanted the seal to give Daniel a key to help those animals.
