This is an odd start. The heroine attends MIT and is a math major. She is driving to Texas for Spring break when her car breaks down and she waits inside a dicey bar until she hears back from the mechanic. She watches some guys playing pool and a tall handsome guy with long hair at least 12" London with his hair in a ponytail is kind of a pool shark and is winning a lot of money.
