It's been awful enduring the slog of the final 40%. This is a 4 star read and a 1 star read. I'll average to 2.5 rounded up.

The Charlottesville/Layla stand off was not great. Charlotte doesn’t have the moral high ground. It all feels catty and I’m not sure why the author decided for an adversarial relationship between charlotte and Layla.

Can’t imagine what else is left to say for another 4 chapters/ 80+ pages.

This book suffers from being too long. Continuing feels like torture just cause it’s more words. And it’s words that have no direction or plot relevance. From the 60% mark, this book just becomes a slog. I’m still continuing because I’ve gotten so far along and can’t DNF because I need it for my reading challenge list.

This is going to be my first DNF for 2026: the narration is bothering me (even though I like a lot of the work Lori Prince does, her voicing of Charlotte doesn’t feel as genuine as it does for Sutton) and I don’t like the way Charlotte feels almost manipulative in her pursuit of Sutton (also, Sutton is too forgivable at this moment in the book) Maybe I’ll read it at a later date.

This book is suffering from being too long.
