The ambience of this book... God! Masterpiece!
Chapter Snow, for reference.

Hans Castorp has had the most adventurous dreams about everyone in has met at the sanatorium and this is his first day. Also, he is getting sicker and does not want anyone to know. His illness is noticed by Settembrini who tells him he should leave immediately.

I was already feeling targeted by Castorp’s intellectual musings about the two kinds of Latin before he started talking about Don Carlos 😅
