Status Updates From Wicklow's Odyssey

I finished this yesterday. But I can't move on. The story's like an iceberg, where I could sense the enormous mass of history/backstory beneath the surface. Then near the end some of it could suddenly be glimpsed, & my understanding had to expand enormously to accommodate the REAL reality -- I know this isn't making any sense, but in a nutshell: Everything else is on hold while I go back & read this book again.

So indirect, so allusive that I sometimes feel like I'm deciphering code. What a strange and demanding reading experience this is. But I'm not complaining -- because so far it's been worth it.

This book is very much its own thing. What do I even mean by that? I don't know, maybe just that the voice is distinctive -- somehow slow and rich and convoluted and even a bit repetitive, and yet it's working for me. I don't have a clue where it's going, and I always like that in a book.

What do we think? Is Amelia actually a man or only masquerading for purposes of the war?

I think part of why this, and Little Wolf take me so long to read is there's so much Story and I come into this wanting Relationship. It's almost as though relationship is secondary to story, and while still phenomenal, not exactly what I was looking for.

Still hard to follow at times, but getting more engaging.

A lot of dialogue and nuance. Kinda reminds me of Little Wolf.

Not quite drawn into it. Still not sold. Almost want this to be an alternating-perspective story, but doesn't seem it's gunna be that way.

For different reasons and in different ways we will rid the country of an evil institution and hopefully our own demons. We will protect that which we love, even when we don’t want to love it and we don’t feel it loves us. Perhaps it doesn’t. That is how love works. It exists, whether or not it is returned.

Good grief this book is boring. Heading for a rare DNF.

steampunk civil war is my fav civil war

The big romantic moment is over now and we're barely halfway through the book. ALL THAT CAN BE LEFT IS PAIN.

Usually the plot in m/m romance is just this meh vehicle I sit through between kissing lmao. but this one has me hooked. if *any* of them are the traitor it's going to break me.

this book is killing me @_@

I can't even talk about how much I love R. Cooper okay.

I love her books so much. I never want them to end, but at the same time I want to hurry up and get to the part where the characters are kissing... hahaha.
