The police officer delivers terrible news- your spouse has died in the car accident you were just in(you were the driver) and the very next thing the police officer says is "What in the world is that smell?"

I'm sorry, but that does not seem AT ALL like how this would go down. I don't care if you were driving a food delivery vehicle.

This writer seems to be focusing on how important a woman's weight is. "...the news of a woman being pregnant, especially a thin woman expecting.." And then later, "Where a thicker woman's body absorbs a pregnancy..."

I'm not familiar with pregnancy myself, but the author's assumpion that "thicker" women have an easier time with pregnancy kind of pisses me off.

So apparently this Rutgers Graduate and high school teacher hadn't ever heard of a black fly before coming to the Adirondacks. I guess I didn't realize upstate NY was the only place with black flies. Anyone know if there's truth in that?? Just seems odd to me.

So you're a Rutgers graduate and a high school teacher but you don't know what a generator is? Hmmm. Not sure I can buy that. Useless detail that takes me out of the story.

One chapter in and wow...the writing is not that good. I hope it improves as the story goes on. I hate having to give books bad reviews but if this doesn't get better I'm going to have to. *sigh*
