#7: Be specific. Down with generic messages. Tailor to your audience. Make it personal. Provide context for the not so obvious. Toss a big tent over the discussion, give relevant reasons in the right order, tell HOW, not just what or why. Anchor your point. Make pain less intense. A lot packed into this little chapter.

4th principle: Tact. Hear that Donald Trump?! "Some word choices turn people off because they are tasteless, tactless or pompous." Neutralize hot words. PRACTICE before high-risk or highly charged conversations. 5th: law of Potential vs. Achievement. I have a little problem really seeing this one. 6th: Distinction vs. Dilution. reduce length of presentations, cut the clutter from slides. feedbK frm listener.

2nd principle is Collaboration, which I always find is easier said than done if you haven't already "hooked" the group. This chap should help with strategies to get that buy-in. The 3rd principle: Keep the message simple. Promotes clarity and focus.
