"That was after the hospital had learned that Caleb was the victim of a drunk driver and taken a good portion off of his bill." I'm sorry, what? No hospital I've ever encountered cares how you were injured. They just want their money. I actually know someone whose brother was killed by a drunk driver while riding his tricycle (he was 2) and they still had to pay all of the hospital bills. No drunk driver discount.

I'm...not sure what to do with a former soldier maid/stripper hero. The stripping part is sort of stopping me dead. I really wish he was a former stripper, not still active duty (haha).

"Little did he know, she chose to look this way. In fact, she played down her looks significantly and purposefully." For fucks sake. The comment he made was about her height and lack of boobs. Neither of which are things one chooses, unless you have a boob job. Also, I don't know if I can handle how immature this woman is. And she takes every smile Seth gives as some sort of come-on. They're Smiles, lady.

"...She could barely keep the smile of victory off her face. He probably didn't get blown off very often, and she was glad she could be the one to do that for him now." Ugh. Grow up, Tori. So you overheard Seth say something juvenile and vaguely rude about you. Be the adult and let it go, especially since Seth now works for you. Also, not great writing.

"No extra pounds on him, nor pale pasty skin...She shuddered at the reminder of the night before..." I'm sorry, is this implying she is shuddering at the thought of the guy she's dating? WHY ARE YOU DATING HIM IF YOU FIND HIM SHUDDER WORTHY?!

The writing hasn't improved much. It's so stilted, and the characters are so 2D and such stereotypes it's sort of hard to keep reading...already.

I wasn't a huge fan of the first book in the series, but this is part of a box set and I'm going to try to make it worth my $3.00 and read all of the books. Standard disclaimer: Progress will be an estimate, and probably not a good one. Well, here we go...
