Ya'll are not even ready for this book. Like, genuinely need all my married and unmarried christian friends to read this immediately.

I’m more confused the more I read. Several points seem contradictory to each other.

Chapter 5 interprets 1Cor7 as Paul telling married Christians to look to single Christians as examples of undivided devotion to the Lord that they should seek to emulate in their married state. I’m confused here because it just isn’t the case that every single Christian is a good example of undivided devotion to the Lord. This view seems like a stretch, though I need to look into it more to figure out why.

This is a mixed bag. I don’t think I agree with Treweek’s eschatological take on singleness — I think it emphasizes the wrong things, and her interpretation of Genesis 1-2 to ground it I just find really unconvincing. But I do think she does a spot-on job in discussing the “gift of singleness.” I totally agree with her on that point!

Disclaimer: I'm going into this book already knowing I have problems with it, and I would not recommend it (if you want a good book on Christian singleness, Sam Allberry's is the best I've yet to come across) -- I'm just reading this to make sure my issues with it are actually valid objections. :)

I am finding this really useful, encouraging and accessible. Some great encouragement for those of us who are single and the importance of single people in the church.
