Having paragraphs with run on sentences and no quotations for dialogs its a .... choice?

First 20 pages were slow, next 20 seem to be building to something and the 20 after that fizzled out into nothing.

So far l am disappointed, confused how this book has so many good reviews, but it has 200 pages to hopefully fix it.
