But there's no build up to diagnosis or anything-just says 2 months later and surgery is done. Maybe her reasons are she wanted a different memoir to all the rest where they mainly tell if the symptoms, diagnosis, surgery, chemo. Or maybe she didn't really want to relive it all through the writing? After chemo they sold the farmhouse, rehomed the donkey. Bought a new house only six miles away.

It's an exhausting battle, after all that, no one will do anything. She has noticed is more difficult being active recently, couldn't do as many lengths swimming etc.Now lost Alice their Jack Russell who moved over there with them. 2005, I think this is showing the start of her being ill-she's struggling managing her swimming lengths, doing less and less, looking for excuses not to go.

Some terrible comments online as a result of the article, some from some relatives of cancer patients who had died, they had totally missed the point, it really did beggar belief as Shirley said. Absolutely sweltered with rushing around and the wig and hat on, then next minute it comes off!

A couple of incidents promoted her to buy her first wig but these do not prove as easy to wear as they seem. John is a keen fisherman, experimented with own lake and offering fishing holidays but this didn't work out. Admire how she has the confidence to throw caution to the wind and take the bull by the horns and do something so plucky as post a photo of top of her head on the drug company's Facebook page!

Now moving back to the present again-contacting others who have been affected. Melissa's idea for Shirley to see a Counsellor-doesn't turn out good! Disgusting-call herself a counsellor? !Interspersed with occasional support group member's thoughts, differentiated from main part of the book as bold headings and italics. Very easy to read writing style, whizzing through it now. Shirley has a Donkey!

All very fast moving, flowing writing here about arriving at their new home and renovations. Gite which they rented out, things are doing well, bookings looking really healthy. The book has gone back to before her illness. Expanded-B and B- and she has started writing for a UK women's mag-things are rosy and they are busy busy busy-the world's their oyster-for now.

Comedy anecdote at the Creperie-due to trying out the lingo to order food. Resulting a smelly galette-still not sure what it actually was really! Sounds like chaos-the packing up and moving to Brittany. A few laughs here concerning their journey to new life in France. Again, amusement re vehicle/kids embarrassment. Good concise style, lots of facts in few words.

A third lady is found-Shirley says they are The Bald Musketeers-again, some light humour, not all doom and gloom given the subject matter. Brittany 2000. Longere=Farmhouse

Still little remarks which make you smile even though difficult subject matter. Devastating and final-she is told her hair is never going to grow back. Italics for thoughts again-like this technique and the consistency of use. Again, the italics convey how she's feeling, the desperation of the situation. Pam and Shirley started creating a support group.

Like this technique: Italics for her thought-which she didn't voice-expresses this exactly. A family holiday was planned in Tenerife as soon as her treatment was finished. Moved to Brittany. Has a small greenhouse-growing tomatoes, getting pleasure from the small things in life.
