I just finished reading: Sing the Night

The storyline enchanted me from the first sentence and the author managed to keep my attention. What I did notice was that the author used a lot of repetitive descriptions. Sometimes the same word appeared three times in one sentence. That seemed very unnecessary to me. Fans of the Movie: The Black Swan will probably be just as enchanted by this book as I was.

The storyline really reminds me of the movie the black Swan, the atmosphere impression is exactly the same, but here everything revolves around opera and the combination of magic. Several students will do anything to become the new King Mage, but to be selected they have to compose an impressive piece of music in which they have to process magical magic elements. Incredibly impressive!

I just started reading this book. While reading the first chapters I had to think a lot of the vibes of the movie "The Black Swan" because of the opera music, but the magical elements reminded me of the book: "The Night Circus" I am very curious about the rest of the storyline! My next reading update will follow soon.

This line makes zero (0) sense in the context of this scene, where we are being asked to feel enraged about one character stealing another's work.

Someone needs to tell the author that misusing musical terminology and words in other languages is not as clever or poetic as she thinks it is. 😑

To say "Opera of Musicians" in French would actually be "L'Opéra des Magiciens" not "L'Opéra du Magician".

How does one have "a gift for silence, even in song"? Music cannot, by nature, be silent.

what does a Kings Mage even do? There is a prince and a King in this AU Paris but they don't do anything except be Fox Executives for this fucked up American Idol.

They're in a building which probably has bandages. He peels off his entire shirt and reaches into the basket for a jar of honey and dabs it on her wounds. He then uses his shirt as bandages. What in the 80s bodice ripper business is happening.

And does honey really work like that?

She keeps saying she is doing this for her father... but what was her father doing? Anything? what was his point in the story? she keeps mentioning him and he just seems like some weird turning point for her being bad instead of some actual basis to be bad. How can I understand a characters reasons if I don't understand THE reason?

I think I hate myself and my love for Phantom. It keeps bringing this trash to me.

Lets break it down: this is an opera house. But there are magicians. Young adults competing to be prime magician for some king... where music / singing makes magic... but nobody sings opera... and ballet dancers are magic wielders too? But girl says the only form of magic is music? so how the fuck and why the fuck a ballet dancer wants to win this tournament?

He laughs, sighs, and speaks in musical terms. Like "His voice was pianissimo". what? she "dreams in trebble clef".

How do books like this get published, and other good writers get passed over?
